SMILE #UWokeUp performance hat is a way to encourage movement to our TBI family in whatever capacity this deems as possible for the survivor. From each purchase, a ten-dollar donation goes towards a survivor receiving a new pair of walking/running stability shoes to continue their journey of recovery and healing.
What your purchase does.
SMILE #UWokeUp encourages movement in several fashions. Movement of the eyes, phalanges, and lower extremities.
Movement is ideal for helping keep neurons firing. But the trend is also a key component during recovery and ongoing rehabilitation.
SMILE #UWokeUp leaned into the thought of movement, remembering what it was like for us in the hospital when relearning how to walk. From this, we decided to motivate differently – holding focus to the feet.
Feet are the foundation of our body. In the hospital, when you are attempting to learn how to take your first step all over again. Shoes are an essential factor, but many complex levels go into this: ankle doesn’t rotate, tightness to the top of the foot, size, etc. One may rely on minimal movement once one reaches their goal, but what if YOU…?
Our goal in encouraging movement is to help TBI survivors find the self-confidence and inner balance needed, along with finding the “new” them along the way.
SMILE #UWokeUp shoe application for Northern Colorado TBI survivors; we hope this will be one less obstacle a survivor needs to tackle when focussing on their rehabilitation process. We are experts in the field of TBI who have partnered up with Runners Roost, who are the experts in feet and shoes. The shoes pre-selected for the survivor will focus on stability, sizing, balance, and more.
Please read through the application thoroughly when applying, and be sure to complete the form in its entirety. Do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions.
- We encourage TBI-ers to continue taking ‘steps forward to reach their goals.
- We encourage TBI-ers to protect their noggin’, overcome personal mountains, and “ride” over them.
- We encourage TBI-ers to live from love.
