This morning I was in pure bliss after leaving the gym in pain, sweat, and glory. As a traumatic brain injury survivor TBI) opening your eyes in the morning is a blessing, which I have learned the hard way. My name is Molly Cain, I am 27 years old and I am 6 years out from an accident that left me in a coma with the right side of my body paralyzed. I had to re-learn virtually everything, including my name. I am here today to yell at the top of my lungs, SMILE #UWokeUp
Let me pick your brain…
Do you set an intention for your day?
How do you fulfill said intention?
My daily intention is to be a light of love, but this thought flourished with intent when I added working out in conjunction with this mantra. This is where I began to really learn who I was and what I had to offer. I feel chosen to be a voice for my TBI family and to raise awareness of our hidden disabilities. My intention is personal wellness and how I fulfill sait intention, is by endurance training.
Training for anything teaches you discipline. It teaches you the importance of personal goals. It shows you that no matter what you are facing, it is possible to define the odds. For me, it embellishes the definition of truly living. I compete in endurance activities on behalf of my TBI family to raise awareness of our hidden disability, while educating said community. This does not mean that I am 100% or back to “normal”. Goodness no. However, what it does mean is that I learn to laugh at my personal battles and roll with struggles. I chose to not let my TBI define me.
Stay tuned for more Endurance from a TBI lense …
